And now, Glynne has joined the team as our in-house Interior Consultant. As we’re more used to bricks and mortar, we’ll let him explain the service:

Interior Consultancy – In His Own Words

“As the Interior Consultant, my role is to work with clients on spatial planning.  Many people find it really hard to visualise and design space but because I know products so well I can help with getting a feel for the space and planning what will work. It’s all about environment and detailing – those nuances, like lighting, that can really make a difference to how a room looks and feels.

Even at the building stage, it’s about detail; advising on the best products and materials to create a really stunning project. You can have lots of things you like but it’s about what goes best in the space you are working with – I need to know how the customer is going to use the room and we work backwards from there. I’ll ask questions like; where do you want your sockets? How do you get the best natural light? Where do you want the light fittings? I’ve worked in properties all over the world and have visited the design show in Milan every year for 17 years to keep up to date with products and design. From the outset, I can visualise the building from a completed project point of view.

Customers will often see me with my camera, recording the tiniest snagging details. They may not even notice but that we know how to create a perfect finish. It’s unusual for a builder to provide interior consultancy but we believe that perfection is in the finer details. Also, our customers really appreciate the advice and guidance.”

Finally, take a look at The Shed, a Manningtree-based salon that we refurbished and designed, which has been featured in Hairdresser’s Journal.
